By the way, the ‘’French croissant’’ originated in Hungary during the Austrian-Turkish war of 1686. To celebrate the victory of Austria over Turkey, the bakers of Budapest created a commemorative pastry in a crescent shape reminiscent of the recipe only in the 19th century.
