RECTANGULAR CANVAS: 'BLUE ZEN'

H 40 inches x L 80 inches (2m80 X 1m) Red birds on each side hold a string in their beaks. Composition: Blue sand, blue sparkles and blue wool on canvas accompanied by two flying red birds. The blue wool is put together one by one over 30 hours of meditation and concentration. The tension of each string has to be even to achieve an esthetically pleasing effect. Performance in Manhattan of self-discipline: to ignore the solicitation of the city. This work is also a “contemporary Mandala”: After three weeks of intense meditation and concentration, once the “sand painting” is complete, the eight Buddhist monks destroy the Mandala by mixing the sand together and pouring into the sea. This ceremony demonstrates the importance of living fully in the present and not being attached to the result.
