ROUND CANVAS: 'THE MANDALA'

H 47” x L 47” (1m20x 1m20) Composition: Velvet, wool, coton, cord, string sewed on canvas, plastic, metal and sparklings After three weeks of intense meditation and concentration, once the ‘’sand painting’’ is complete, the eight Buddhist monks destroy the Mandala by mixing the sand together and pouring into the sea. This ceremony demonstrates the importance of living fully in the present and not being attached to the result. A Mandala is a cosmic diagram coordinating the cycles of space and time, uniting the way of heaven with the way of earth. It is a concentration of energy and an aid to meditation. Each time you meditate, you generate positive energy, contributing to the well-being of humanity. My meditation on this piece was the sewing during 200 hours.
